After 20 years of hard work, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradicating this tenacious disease, but a strong push is needed now to root it out once and for all. It is a window of opportunity of historic proportions.

PolioPlus, the most ambitious program in Rotary's history, is the volunteer arm of the global partnership dedicated to eradicating polio. For more than 20 years, Rotary has led the private sector in the global effort to rid the world of this crippling disease. Today, PolioPlus and its role in the initiative is recognized worldwide as a model of public-private cooperation in pursuit of a humanitarian goal.

In addition to providing financial and volunteer support, Rotary works to urge support from other public and private sector partners. This includes the campaign to End Polio Now, inspired by the extraordinary challenge grants received from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Strike Out Polio is the Village West Rotary contribution to the Rotary effort to eradicate polio worldwide. Held in June of each year at the Community America Ballpark, Village West teams up with local baseball greats, the Kansas City T-Bones to raise funds and awareness for this dreadful disease. Hosted by the International Service Committee, Strike Out Polio includes a silent auction and a great time at the Ballpark for Club Members. Assistance is needed in planning the event, securing silent auction items and representing the Village West Rotary the evening of the event.
