About the Parade…

This exciting nighttime parade recognizes the hard work, dedication and often, the sacrifices our armed forces, law enforcement, firefighters and other unique heroes make for us each day. Over 100 participants including fire, law enforcement, military vehicles, vintage cars, local high school bands and others begin the Parade at France Family Drive North to Stadium Drive. Joining the Parade are many of our local Veterans from WWII, Vietnam, Korea and our present day Heroes, our current soldiers, firefighters, law enforcement and other special heroes. A special Chinok Helicopter will provide entertainment in the skies while hundreds of spectators line the streets for this much anticipated community event to show our heroes they are not forgotten!

About The Grand Marshal…

The Village West Rotary is proud to announce our 2010 Grand Marshal, the late John Glaser, a Shawnee firefighter who lost his life in the line of duty in the spring of 2010. As a dedicated firefighter, Marine reservist and committed father and husband, John made the ultimate Hero’s sacrifice while trying to save another’s life. The Glaser Family will represent John and lead the 2010 Parade of Heroes in tribute to his memory and in recognition of all our heroes.

Proceeds from the Parade of Heroes will be donated to the John Glaser Memorial Fund and Army Emergency Relief, an organization that provides much needed assistance to Army families during times of crisis.
