Jim Arnett, is the Leawood Club’s “token” Rocket Scientist, having retired from the California Institute of Technology’s Jet Propulsion Lab after 35 years designing, testing and launching spacecraft for NASA.
 
 
Together, Jim & and his Polio Survivor spouse, Mary Ann, became involved in Rotary International’s 30th Anniversary celebration of Polio Plus in 2015.  Jim then joined Leawood Rotary to help promote Polio Plus.  He currently serves as Rotary District 5710’s Polio Chairman and over the last 5 years has led the 43 Rotary Clubs of the District to a record Polio Plus Donations including the RI & Gates Foundation Matches approaching 3 / 4 of a Million $’s.  Jim has earned his PHF+8, and is a Paul Harris Society Member, Leawood’s Rotarian of the Year, and has been honored as a recipient of Rotary International’s “Service Above Self” Award.
