2020/21 Scholarships availableYoung people start college or tech school with the best of intentions and perhaps money they have saved and a scholarship or two. The first year goes well, but what about the second, third or fourth year? Is the money still there? Life can get in the way with family issues, a job loss or health issues. What happens to the money to stay in college? The Village West Rotary wants to help! We are offering ten $1,000 scholarships through our Club’s fund raising, donations, and Rotary District 5710 grant funds. These scholarships are available to full-time existing college or tech school students and current high school seniors (2020-2021 school year) intending to be full-time students in the Fall of 2021 at a college or tech school. Applicants must be a graduate or current senior of a Wyandotte County public or private school. The Application is downloadable on this website (see "Important Documents" at top of home page). Applications must be completed and returned by Midnight, January 31st, 2021, along with an essay (400 words max) on how this scholarship will make a difference to you this year and a letter of recommendation from a former instructor, employer, or social service agency where you’ve been a volunteer. 6th Annual Parade of Heroes!Thank you to our Parade of Heroes sponsors and dedicated participants. On behalf of the Village West Rotary Club volunteers, we apologize for the cancellation of the parade. The safety of our participants and attendees is too important and a difficult decision was made to cancel. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. We truly appreciate your time and energy for this important community event to honor our men and women in uniform! With the help of our community and generous sponsors like Sam's Club, Village West WineFest, DeGoler's Pharmacies and Dave and Buster's, we raised almost $10,000 to support Helping Our Own at Home-a local organization providing assistance to wounded veterans and their families. Village West Rotary Club is proud to support such a worthy organization. Due to many factors, the 2012 Parade of Heroes will not be rescheduled. We ask for your understanding and hope to see you in 2013 for an even better Parade of Heroes! Please feel free to contact us at paradeofheroes@gmail.com with any questions. Thank you!
